Mounira al Solh

February 5, 2010

Mounira Al Solh (1978) is a Lebanese artist working in Beirut and in Amsterdam. Having painting as a background, she developed videos and other forms of works where text takes an important narrative and sometimes performative role, and where personal issues transform into and intermingle with a twisted form of social-criticism manifested through a rather absurd playful manner. This therefore affects the form of the works, as they often question and reflect on what they are. Among her most recent and ongoing works “The Sea Is A Stereo”, N.O.A. (Not Only Arabic) magazine, and “Fais-Ce Que Voudras”: Hommage au peintre Bassam Ramlawi.
